Jackie & Isaac — Wedding at Cala Luna Boutique Hotel, Tamarindo, Costa Rica

Jackie and Isaac’s wedding at Cala Luna perfectly reflected who they are as a couple: authentic, irreverent, fun-loving and completely unpredictable. From the very beginning, we knew this would be no conventional celebration. They wanted a wedding without rigid formalities or forced poses—and, above all, one filled with laughter, emotion and real moments.

The setting could not have been more spectacular: Cala Luna Boutique Hotel & Villas, a secluded paradise in Tamarindo, Costa Rica, nestled between the tropical rainforest and the Pacific Ocean. Surrounded by nature, the calls of howler monkeys and the constant sound of the sea, everything invited guests to disconnect and simply enjoy the moment.

The ceremony was due to take place in an intimate cove beside the ocean, just as the sun began to descend towards the horizon. The sky offered warm colours and extraordinary light, but during the preparations, just minutes before their first look, the rain arrived.

It was not the kind of inconvenient rain that ruins plans, but the unexpected tropical rain that transforms everything into something even more magical. Instead of running for shelter, Jackie and Isaac did precisely the opposite: they laughed, embraced and carried on celebrating in the rain.

Barefoot guests on the sand, rain-soaked clothes, spontaneous laughter and the combination of rain and golden evening light created an atmosphere that would have been impossible to plan—and even harder to forget.

A Wedding at Cala Luna Beneath the Tropical Rain

As wedding photographers, celebrations like this remind us why we love telling stories. The finest images are not born from perfection, but from truth: from a couple who continue to see and love one another in the middle of a storm, who turn the rain into part of the celebration and make every moment entirely their own.

The wedding at Cala Luna Boutique Hotel & Villas was exactly that: free-spirited, intense, joyful and deeply authentic. A celebration where the important thing was not for everything to unfold perfectly, but to experience absolutely all of it.

The planning of this Cala Luna wedding was led by Bárbara of 419 Weddings, with whom it is always a genuine pleasure to collaborate. Alongside her, we have documented some very special weddings, including those of Renée & Carlos, Becky & Sam and Chelsea & Tina.
